Close proximity and battle practice will be allowed during these sessions.

    Qualifying:
After the Saturday practice sessions, competitors will have a qualifying session. Vehicles will be divided into Group A, B and C by organisers. Each group will have 30 minutes to complete their qualifying runs. Competitors are allowed two qualifying runs with the remainder of the time available for additional practice.
To qualify the competitor will position his car in the Right Hand staging lane behind the barrier to let the starter know he is ready to qualify. At the Clerk of the Courses instruction the track will be cleared of cars and the judges notified that a vehicle is about to qualify. After the competitor has completed his judged run he may continue to make his way round the track for further practice / qualifying.
To indicate to the starter the competitor's intention to practice he/she will approach the Staging Lanes at walking pace in the Left Hand lane, he/she will follow the instruction of the starter and not proceed until the vehicle is waved through. The Clerk of the Course will be informed before any vehicle is released from the marshalling area.

Under the control of Clerk of the Course, the starter will assess the traffic on course and release the qualifying runs at a time that maximizes the competitors available track time; practice lane vehicles may be waved through the barriers at walking pace to speed up proceedings. It is encouraged to have vehicles in close proximity on practice runs to add spectacle to the event.
Drift practice will be carried out on track in areas detailed by the clerk of course.
Round Robin drift event with all drifters battling against each driver with the drifter winning the most battles the winner
There will be no right to Protest accepted against the Judge of Fact. The Judges decisions are FINAL
A five (5) minute mechanical event completion rule applies to battle pairings once the opposing vehicle is in the staging lane, failure to adhere will result in that run being forfeited.
Witches hats will be placed adjacent to the track to indicate different judging zones.
Warming up tyres in a controlled manner on turn 1 will be allowed. Witches hats will indicate the start and end of the warmup area.
    SCORING/ JUDGING/ ELIMINATION BATTLES
Competitors will be scored and ranked from 1 to 16 by the judges based on qualifying results. The best qualifying result is used as his final judged score.
If competitors do not do two qualifying runs, they will be ranked as per entry.
When there are more than 16 cars entered the lowest qualifiers will be eliminated and will be able to run in the "Fill in" category.

After qualifying, a series of tandem elimination battles will commence:-
    Round of 16
    Round of 8
    Round of 4
    Battle for 3rd place
    Final
In the Round of 16 the number 1 qualifier battles the number 16 qualifier; the number 2 qualifier battles the number 15 qualifier and so on. The winner of each 'battle' then progresses to the next round of eliminations (i.e. the round of 16). A tandem elimination 'battle' consists of two judged runs, in which two cars travel through the course together, one following the other as closely as possible. Each car takes a turn a leading and following.
Three judges assess the relative speed, line and angle of the two cars scoring each factor on a proportional basis out of 10. For example in a battle between Car A and Car B judges may score the run 6-4, 7-3, 4-6, meaning car A was rated higher on speed than car B (6-4) by the speed judge, car A was rated higher on angle (7-3) by the angle judge but car A was rated lower than car B for line (4-6) by the line judge. The average scores for the run being 5.67-4.33 i.e. a win to Car A. During the second run the position of the car is reversed. The lead car from run 1 becomes the chase car in run 2. Judges allocate proportional scores for the second run which are then added to the first run scores to give a proportional score out of 20 for the 'battle'. The driver with the lowest score is eliminated from the competition. The driver with the highest score progresses to the next round of tandem eliminations battles.
After both leading and following both battle cars will drive through pit lane and be marshalled; the eliminated vehicle will be notified and asked to park in his/her allocated pit bay until further notice.
Eliminated competitors may be provided more track time at the Clerk of the Courses discretion.
There will be no right to Protest accepted against the Judge of Fact. The Judges decisions are FINAL
A five (5) minute mechanical event completion rule applies to battle pairings once the opposing vehicle is in the staging lane, failure to adhere will result in that run being forfeited.

Warning Applicable in Relation to Motorsport Activities Held in Victoria
Warning Under The Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012:
Under The Australian Consumer Law (Victoria), several statutory guarantees apply to the supply of certain goods and services. These guarantees mean that the supplier named on this form is required to ensure that the recreational services it supplies to me:

    are rendered with due care and skill;
are reasonably fit for any purpose which I either expressly or by implication, make known to the supplier; and
might reasonably be expected to achieve any result I have made known to the supplier.
Under section 22 of the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012 (Vic), the supplier is entitled to ask me to agree that these conditions do not apply to me. I understand that if I sign this form, I am agreeing that any rights to sue the supplier under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012 if I am killed or injured because the services were not in accordance with these guarantees, are excluded, restricted or modified in the way set out in this form.

Note: I note that the change to my rights, as set out in this form, does not apply if my death or injury is due to gross negligence on the supplier's part.
"Gross negligence" in relation to an act or omission, means doing the act or omitting to do an act with reckless disregard, with or without consciousness, for the consequences of the act or omission. See regulation 5 of the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Regulations 2012 and section 22(3)(b) of the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012.

Warning Applicable in Relation to Motorsport Activities Held in South Australia
Under sections 60 and 61 of The Australian Consumer Law (SA), if a person in trade or commerce supplies me with services (including recreational services), there is a statutory guarantee that those services:

will be rendered with due care and skill; and
any product resulting from those services, will be reasonably fit for the purpose for which the services are being acquired (as long as that purpose is made known to the supplier); and
any product resulting from those services, will be of such a nature, and quality, state or condition, that they might reasonably be expected to achieve the result that the consumer wishes to achieve, (as long as that wish is made known to the supplier or a person with whom negotiations have been conducted in relation to the acquisition of the services.
Excluding, Restricting or Modifying My Rights:
Under section 42 of the Fair Trading Act 1987 (SA), the supplier of recreational services is entitled to ask me to agree to exclude, restrict or modify their liability for any personal injury suffered by me or another person for whom, or on whose behalf, I am acquiring the services (a third party consumer). If I sign this form, I am agreeing to exclude, restrict or modify the supplier's liability with the result that compensation may not be payable if I or the third party consumer suffer personal injury.

    Important:
I do not have to agree to exclude, restrict or modify my rights by signing this form. The supplier may refuse to provide me with the services if I do not agree to exclude, restrict or modify my rights by signing this form. Even if I sign this form, I may still have further legal rights against the supplier. A child under the age of 18 cannot legally agree to exclude, restrict or modify his or her rights. A parent or guardian of a child who acquires recreational services for the child cannot legally agree to exclude, restrict or modify the child's rights.

Agreement to exclude, restrict or modify my rights:
I agree that the liability of Motorsport Australia and the Entities for any death or personal injury that may result from the supply of the recreational services that may be suffered by me (or a person for whom or on whose behalf I am acquiring the services) is excluded. Further information about these rights can be found at www.cbs.sa.gov.au
